Lend me your ears! We're adding sound!
Potion Seller
This is my first animation. I have always enjoyed fantasy, storytelling, magic, all those fun and fantastical things. I spent entirely too much of my time creating the potion shop background I had to rush a bit through the movement and color transitions. I enjoyed leaning into the silliness of this animation, and just trying to appropriately layer some background/distant sounds with closer ones.
Dropout
I honestly loved this project. I've been a Dropout subscriber & fan for several years. I do think I already knew that I wanted to put sound to this before it was fully done. I couldn't find a high-enough pitched laugh so I got to learn how to manipulate the pitch and tone a bit.
Dear Audrey
I am actually surprised with how much I was able to accomplish with the sound here. I found a sound of a propeller airplane and Morse code, to tie the paper plane imagery with the war-fighting overseas and to illustrate separation. I extended the sound of a zipper to prolong the extended droning of the plane, so that when the letter hits the mailbox you have the startling absence of sound. The idyllic birds and paper-rustling makes it feel like another world. I feel the sound really enhances the story my mom is telling with her historical blog.
Enjoy!
